Cherie Lockwood, Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula, San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Cherie Lockwood
(she/her)
As a birth and postpartum doula, Cherie is honored to work with families during the childbearing year to support them as they navigate their way through pregnancy, labor and the postpartum period in the way that best works for them. She believes in the childbirth process and trusts the body and choices of each birthing person and baby. Coming from a background in education, her goal for each client is to feel informed, respected, and safe as they enter this beautiful and sacred time. She brings calm and nurturing energy, provides information, listens actively, and helps to remind others of the love and trust that can be at the center of this journey.
Cherie understands that there are many ways to create a family and many ways that babies are born and is committed to support people in whatever journey they are on. As a queer person of color, she strives for inclusive care and welcomes people of all identities and family structures. She has been trained as a birth and postpartum doula through Natural Resources in San Francisco and has the unique personal experience of having been both the supportive non-birthing partner and the birthing parent during labor and postpartum. She lives in the Outer Sunset in San Francisco with her wife, two kids (ages 10 and 13) and dog and loves drinking coffee, going to the beach, and sewing in her (oh so limited) spare time.
