Maya de Paula Hanika
(she/her)
Since becoming a doula in 2016, Maya has had the honor of working with amazing families all over the Bay Area as they walk their own unique path to parenthood. She believes all parents deserve access to compassionate, evidence-based care - both medical and holistic. With knowledge and understanding that everyone’s path is different, she offers unwavering support during pregnancy and labor, making space for your little ones to come into the world with love and respect. Maya is committed to shifting the lens within the birth community to center the experience of LGBTQ+ families and those otherwise overlooked by mainstream care practices.
She believes that birthing people hold the authority on their body and their choices, and hopes that by guiding them to tools and resources to support their own intuition, birth can be a transformative, empowering experience for the whole family.
Maya is also a placenta encapsulator, and tattoo artist. She moved to the Bay from her hometown of London, England in 2010 and now lives in San Francisco’s Mission District with her partner and two kids, Coco and René.
